"What's Scaloopstric?"

Scaloopstric is a 4-day GameJam project developed by Brinch Branch Brunch, a group of 7 college students from Spain that love Videogames.

The theme for the GMTK was "loop", so after some brainstorming, we thought that one game we all loved as kids that truly embodied the idea of loop was Scalextric. We added a couple features to make it more  videogame-y and focused on creating a cozy, polished, yet simple experience, easy to play, but hard to master

Something that we wanted to do is make ALL the game content (assets, art, code, etc) original and self-made, we achieved that except for the music and sounds. We used royalty-free background music, provided by Pixabay and Vodovoz Music Productions.

Race, customize, break the Loop

Play the Grand Prix gamemode to race the enemy car to the finish lane, complete every lap as fast as possible without having an accident. Use every track's payout to upgrade and customize your car.

Our game contains 6 unique tracks with increasing difficulty and up to 32 customizable items so that every run feels different.

Once the 6 tracks are completed, you'll have beaten the game, but you always hit play again and try and do it with different car setups and faster times.

Improve your game & Compete

In the Time Trial you can practice all our tracks. Compete against yourself and try to beat your best marks... Or you could just lay back, relax, and drive at your own pace.

"How do I play Scaloopstric?"

Just download it, unzip it and most importantly, enjoy!

Controls are as simple as it gets:

  • Mouse:
    • Left Click: Throttle
    • Right Click: Turbo
    • Right Click (while hovering interactable objects): Interact
  • Keyboard:
    • R: Reset (on time trial mode)

Super cool, reminds me of the fun I had playing with slot cars as a kid. Great work!

Didn't try the gamejam version, but this postjam one is really polished! I enjoyed playing it, keep up the good work
